Marshall: Joan C Edwards Stadium

The drive to Huntington, WV couldn't have come on a better weekend. The team was playing Southern Mississippi in a Sunday night game, so the field was open on Saturday. If someone can explain the logic to playing a Sunday night game during the NFL's regular season, please do so. Joan C Edwards Stadium is one of two Division I-A stadiums named after a female (the other belongs to South Carolina), and she was one of the main donors that made the field possible. Contrary to popular lore, Matthew McConaughey does not still roam the sidelines of Joan C Edwards shirtless in all of his hairy, hairy glory. Marshall is having a tough season this year (0-7), and opened this stadium in the 1990s when they were still a Division I-AA team. Even the combined spirits of Randy Moss and Chad Pennington couldn't bring success to the team this year, which is too bad because ever since the 2002 Ohio State season in which Mike Nugent kicked a field goal as time expired to win the game I've had a little bit of respect for the school.
