Duke: Wallace Wade Stadium

Wallace Wade Stadium (f.k.a. Duke Stadium) may be home to one of the worst football programs in the history of recent memory, but I don't think that Duke really cares. The stadium actually hosted the 1942 Rose Bowl because of travel restrictions placed on the West Coast immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor, which I was shocked to find out when I saw the banner hanging by the track. Duke does get props for sticking with a natural grass field and still having the track run around the outside, but given the choice between a track and a winning football program, I think I'll take the latter. Beautiful campus, but perhaps the school should stick with basketball.

First Game: 1929, v. Pitt

Surface: Natural
