Northern Illinois: Huskie Stadium

Notre Dame Locker Room = Impressive
Northern Illinois Locker Room = Less than Impressive

Dekalb is in the middle of nowhere. In the middle of cornfields, more accurately. Another field under construction, "Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium" a.k.a. the "House that George Bork Built" a.k.a. the "Doghouse" is seeing some improvements to its north end zone with the addition of a new training facility. The field was also one of the first in the state to use artificial turf back in the day. All the recent and relative success that NIU has had on the football field have helped the stadium receive pretty regular updates and upgrades. Except for the locker room. It was really gross.

First Game: v. Illinois State, 1965

Surface: Field Turf

Amigo,

If you think Dekalb - 60 miles west of Chicago is in the middle of nowhere - you have some more travelling to do.

Just because Huskie Stadium was built in 1965, it does not mean NIU did not have football before that. The program is over 100 years old.

You're right, I miss worded that. They've had a Major College Division team for 40 years is what I was getting at. Even though I've never pointed that out in a post, I was trying to there. My mistake and consider it fixed.
