Illinois: Memorial Stadium

We met up with News Channel 15's very own Matt Coldagelli at Memorial Stadium. Matt is one of the News Anchors there at ABC 15 and was nice enough to contact me and want to do a story about this little thing I have going. The YouTube video tells most of all of it. What they didn't get on video is the audio of us blasting Kelis' song "Milkshake" while filling up on gas. I had it loud enough that I was hoping they just couldn't ignore it, but somehow they did. Back to details...

Memorial Stadium was under some major renovation. If I remember correctly, it is a process of a couple years in making Memorial Stadium a little smaller and little more luxurious. They removed some seats along the upper deck near the press box, and from what I understand, are gutting the press box as well. It was under heavy enough construction that I have a feeling we would've been kicked out without Matt's help. Some guy from the Athletic Office looked as though he was coming to do so before he recognized Matt. The biggest thing that kept running through my mind was remembering that an NFL team played here not too long ago. The Bears made Memorial Stadium home as Soldier Field was being renovated a few years ago, and I cannot imagine being at Memorial for a Bears game as a Bears fan. Fortunately for the Bears and Memorial Stadium, Chicago sucked that year going 4-12.
