Akron: The Rubber Bowl

The Rubber Bowl wins for being the most locked down stadium to date. I managed to walk onto an NFL field in the same day that I had to climb over and under fences and drive away from cops at Akron. It was a dump too. The stadium is built into the side of a hill right by where the International Soapbox Derby's finish line is located. There were signs everywhere that said something to the effect of No Trespassing: Property of the State of Ohio. That's cool and all, Akron, but I don't know why anyone would be caught dead trying to show up here for anything other than a geeky attempt to see all 119 football stadiums, or to accidentally fall onto an HIV infected used drug needle.

The rubber Bowl is pretty bad, and is nowhere even near campus. Here is an article showing their proposal of an on campus stadium that would be very nice. All the other athletic fields and buildings around it are new or renovated, so this would be a great finishing touch.

I was just so excited to get done that day, as I had already driven for 10 hours and had 4 ahead of me that I rushed it to. It seems like a lot of the MAC schools are starting to work toward updating at least some of their facilities.

You forgot to mention the best part of the Rubber Bowl. This would be the fact that the light posts are IN FRONT OF THE SEATS, making this possibly the only stadium in the country with zero unobstructed seats. Go Zips...

i've been to a ton of games there because there's not much else to do in the area on a saturday night and the goal post are a major pain as previously mentioned. what really can be crazy is when planes are about to land or take off. talk about a major distraction...

the nearby airport is the reason for the lights by the way

I had no problem sneaking into the stadium. It was climbing my way out that was the worst...

That's funny, when I was on a roadtrip and stopped by the Rubber Bowl, the gate was open for some reason so we just went onto the field and tried to kick field goals.
